Riding the train

We went to Anthem yesterday to do some shopping at the outlet mall. Avy got to ride the train. We're not really too sure if she liked it or not. 

Hiking

Avy loves hiking! Now, that the weather is cooling off, we have been able to get out and enjoy the mountains! She likes to pick up rocks, feel the dirt and sand between her hands, or just lay in it! 

14 months

Age: 14 months Height: 28.25, 15% percentile at 12 month appt. Weight: 18.9 pounds at 12 month appt. Head: 45cm, 50% percentile at 12 month appt. Milestones: Avy no longer crawls. She loves to walk everywhere. She is able to walk fast, almost running, but not quite yet. She waves to everyone and will give kisses on occasion. She likes to play with Oso and Zoey and laughs at them quite often. She loves playing in the water and has found that sticking her hand in the toilet is quite fun! She points to things she wants or sees. She knows what cracker, juice, bye bye, walk, bathtime, nighttime, milk mean when spoken to her. She has her own language and enjoys talking to herself or anyone that listens. She can imitate a bark sounds when we say ‘what does oso say’. She imitates a lion roar as well. Her daddy taught her that. Sleep: Avy continues to stay on her sleeping routine. She goes to bed around 7:30pm every night. She will then wake up anywhere from 5:30-6am. She usually doesn’t go back to sleep when she wakes up. Her naps continue to fluctuate depending if she stays home or goes to daycare. She doesn’t take good naps at daycare, but when she is at home, she will usually take two naps during the day. Best Moment: Everyday is a best moment with Avy! She is always learning something new and trying to show us things. She always looks for our approval when she finds something new to play with. Worst Moment: Since Avy started day care, she is getting sick quite often. She always seems to have a running nose, cough, etc. Sometimes I think its allegeries from the weather changing and other times I think she catches something from the other kids. Health: So far, no issues. Eating: Avy loves finger foods. She loves toast, crackers, real green beans, pasta, cut up pears, cut up mango, avocado, real peas, cut up banana, small pieces of chicken, rice crackers, puffs, yogurt puffs and juice. She doesn’t seem to like tthe baby food pouches where she can suck the baby food right out of the pouch anymore. She will let me feed her with a spoon now, or let me load the spoon that way she can feed herself. Teeth: Avy has two molars on the top and two molars coming through on the bottom now. Altogether she now has 12 teeth! Extra comments: Avy is so much fun to watch play and learn. She is such a good little girl and we always get comments on how sweet she is. She isn’t shy and will go up to a lot of different women and hold her hands up like she wants them to pick her up. I’m not sure if that is a good thing!

Avy loves her baths. I realized I have not taken any pictures of her in the bath so I had Greg snap a few last night. She loves her baths!

11 months

Age: 11 months Height: 26inches, 5th percentile at 9 months Weight:20 pounds Head: 44.25cm, 60th percentile at 9 months Milestones: Avy continues to crawl, pull to standing and take steps from one thing to another. She can take 3 to 4 steps independently. She will hold onto one of my fingers and walk everywhere. She can stand independently for at least 20 seconds or more. She tries to wave and give kisses on occasion. She likes to play with Oso and Zoey and laughs at them quite often. She likes playing in the water, weather it be at Grandma and Grandpa’s hot tub, the bath or in our little plastic pool. Sleep: Avy continues to stay on her sleeping routine. She goes to bed around 8pm every night. She will then wake up anywhere from 6:30-7am for a bottle. She usually doesn’t go back to sleep when she wakes up. She will stay awake for a couple of hours and then take a 1 ½ hour to 2 hour nap. She will take another nap in the afternoon, but it fluctuates and is usually only 1 hour. She is becoming mommy attached and does not like to go down for naps or bedtime because she doesn’t want me to leave her. She is beginning to cry more then usual. :( Best Moment: Watching her walk for the first time by taking 3 to 4 steps. Worst Moment: Avy had the stomach flu the first week of June. She was really weak and wasn’t taking many liquids. I felt so horrible for her. I ended up getting it too and can attest that it was no fun! I believe Avy is also experiencing separation anxiety from me. She doesn’t like when I leave the room. She wants me to always hold her and carry her around and cries if I don’t pick her up. I like the fact that she wants to be with me, but it gets a little overwhelming at times! Health: So far, no issues. Eating: Avy loves finger foods. She continues to not like being spoon feed. She loves toast, real green beans, pasta, cut up pears, cut up mango, avocado, real peas, cut up banana, small pieces of chicken, rice crackers, puffs, yogurt puffs and juice. She loves the baby food pouches where she gave suck the baby food right out of the pouch. I think she likes the independence! We introduced cheese, applesauce, ritz crackers and brown rice and she seems to like it all. I don’t think she is a picky eater! Teeth: Avy now has two top teeth and two bottom teeth. Extra comments: Gregory, Avy and I are planning on coming home around July 4th to celebrate Avy’s one year birthday and to visit with family. We are very excited for everyone to see all of Avy’s tricks!

First bike ride

Avy can finally wear a bike helmet so we got the i-bert (a child seat that attaches to the front of a bike). Avy loves her stroller rides and being pushed around in her fire truck, so we knew she would love the bike. Now we can finally go for bike rides as a family!

10 months

Age: 10 months Height: 26inches, 5th percentile at 9 months Weight: 17 pounds, 30th percentile at 9 months Head: 44.25cm, 60th percentile at 9 months Milestones: Avy continues to crawl, pulls to standing and takes steps from one thing to another. She pushes around toys and push toys. She is able to hold our hands and walk. She is beginning to stand independently for a few seconds and will attempt to take a step before falling. She will pull self up from sitting to standing and try to balance without holding on to anything. She loves her fire truck! She crawls in and out of it and loves to stand up on the seat. She will push it towards the T.V. or coffee table and then try to climb. She is beginning to wave and give kisses on occasion. She likes to play with Oso and Zoey and laughs at them quite often. She likes to get in Grandma and Grandpa’s hot tube and float around in her tube. Sleep: Avy is sleeping through the night. She goes to bed around 8pm every night. She will then wake up anywhere from 6:30-7am for a bottle. She usually doesn’t go back to sleep when she wakes up. She will stay awake for a couple of hours and then take a 1 ½ hour to 2 hour nap. She will take another nap in the afternoon, but it fluctuates and is usually only 1 hour. Best Moment: Greg and I were really excited to see her start to try and stand independently and balance herself. We think we saw her try and take steps a few times. Worst Moment: Avy had strep and croup in the middle of April. She was pretty sick for a week or so and was on antibiotics and steroids. She was really fussy and was keeping us up at night. Health: So far, no issues. Eating: Avy loves finger foods. She continues to not like being spoon feed. She loves toast, real green beans, pasta, cut up pears, cut up mango, avocado, real peas, cut up banana, small pieces of chicken, rice crackers, puffs, yogurt puffs and juice. She loves the baby food pouches where she gave suck the baby food right out of the pouch. I think she likes the independence! Teeth: She has her two bottom teeth. I think her top two will come in before long. Extra comments: Greg and I just got a new bike seat that we can attach to our bikes so Avy can ride along with us! We went for a ride and she loves it! No mountain biking for awhile though! :

9 months

Age: 9 months Height: 26inches, 5th percentile Weight:17 pounds, 30th percentile Head: 44.25cm, 60th percentiile Milestones: Avy crawls and pulls to standing on everything. She is able to side step from one thing to another. She just started standing up and pushing her toys while walking. She is able to crawl all the way up our stairs (with supervision of course!) She will bring her hands together, but hasn’t clapped yet. She still loves to stand up in her crib in the morning and wake mommy and daddy up by pounding on the crib with her hand or jabbering. Avy has started to show some interest in books and will watch as I turn the pages. She also likes to turn the pages herself. She loves the books with different textures on the pages and will feel the pages as I turn them. Sleep: Avy is sleeping through the night. She goes to bed around 8pm every night. She will then wake up anywhere from 5:30-7am for a bottle. She usually doesn’t go back to sleep when she wakes up at 6:30. She will stay awake for a couple of hours and then take a 1 ½ hour to 2 hour nap. She will take another nap in the afternoon, but it fluctuates and is usually only 1 hour. Best Moment: Avy started pushing her walking toys while walking. I wasn’t paying attention and realized that she walked from one side of the room to the other. I ran and got Greg and said Avy is walking with her toys! Also, Avy is off her meds! Yay!!! The reflux is much better and she rarely spits up. Worst Moment: It’s a good thing, when I can’t recall a bad moment! Health: So far, no issues. Eating: Avy loves finger foods. She has started to not like baby foods or being spoon feed. She loves toast, real green beans, pasta, cut up pears, cut up mango, avocado, real peas, cut up banana, small pieces of chicken rice crackers, puffs, and carrot apple juice. She will still let us give her baby food every so often. The doctor recommends no eggs or cow milk until she is one year, but said we could give her yogurt, cheese and pancakes when I asked. Teeth: Yep, she has her two bottom teeth. Extra comments: Avy is becoming so fun watching her learn new things and explore her curiosity. She loves playing and exploring things other then her toys!

8 months

She can hold onto something with one hand while standing. She is beginning to take steps when trying to get a toy or object she wants. She passes toys from one hand to the other. She loves to stand up in her crib in the morning and wake mommy and daddy up by pounding on the crib with her hand or jabbering. Sleep: Avy is sleeping through the night. She goes to bed around 8pm every night. She will then wake up anywhere from 5:30-6:30am for a bottle. She usually doesn’t go back to sleep when she wakes up at 6:30. She will stay awake for a couple of hours and then take a 1 ½ hour to 2 hour nap. She will take another nap in the afternoon, but it fluctuates and is usually only 1 hour. Best Moment: Avy is so funny at times. She will give us smiles and squeal. She likes pat-a-cake and playing peek-a-boo. She shakes her head back and forth at a lot of things, but we are not sure what it means. She usually just does it and smiles.Worst Moment: Avy’s GERD or acid reflux is much better. I am giving her the medication once a day now instead of twice. She is spitting up a lot less so planning to discontinue the medication once we run out!Health: So far, no issues.Eating: Avy still loves her veggies!! She eats an entire jar or sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, green beans, or peas depending on what we are feeding her that day. She is still not too sure about fruit, but is beginning to eat small amounts of it. She loves puffs! She enjoys picking them up off her tray and putting them in her mouth. We continue to give her rice cereal in her bottles and she chew on rice cakes and crackers.Teeth: Yep, she has her two bottom teeth.Extra comments: Avy is becoming so fun watching her learn new things and explore her curiosity. She loves playing and exploring things other then her toys!

7 Months

Age: 7 months Height: 24.75” at 6 months Weight: over 15lbs I’m sure Head: 40.5cm at 6 months Milestones: Avy can roll over onto either side. She get’s up on all fours and even does a pike often by pushing up keeping her arms and legs straight. She is army crawling to get to an object or toy that she wants. She is so close to crawling, just doesn’t have the hang of it yet. She is able to sit alone for a minute or two, but falls over and can’t get herself back up. She pulls herself onto her side and side sits, she just can’t push herself up to midline yet. She likes to jabber, but hasn’t said any defiant words. She does not really have a giggle, but makes a grunt laugh or squeal. She enjoys people watching when we go out. She also loves her daily walks and hikes. She loves taking baths and has learned how to splash the water with her hands and feet. Sleep: Avy is sleeping through the night. She goes to bed anywhere from 7:30 to 9:30 and will sleep for 8 to 10 hours. Her naps seem to fluctuate. She will usually take one in the morning and one in the afternoon from 1 hour to 3 hours. Best Moment: We are really starting to enjoy everyday with Avy. We love watching her curiosity and all the new things she is learning. The best moment is seeing her big smile in morning when she wakes up! Worst Moment: Avy’s GERD or acid reflux is getting better. I am giving her the medication once a day now instead of twice. She is spitting up a lot less so I’m hoping that we can discontinue the medication in the next month or so. Health: So far, no issues. Eating: Avy loves her veggies!! She eats an entire jar or sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, green beans, or peas depending on what we are feeding her that day. She is not too sure about fruit. We have introduced her to bananas, apples and pears, but she isn’t too sure about them. She continues to give her rice cereal in her bottles and she has now started chewing on rice crackers, which she loves. Teeth: Nope, but drooling a lot and consistently putting her hands in her mouth and chewing on toys. Extra comments: Avy is becoming so fun watching her learn new things and explore her curiosity.

6 months

Age: 6 months
Height: 24.75", 11th percentile
Weight: 14lbs 12oz., 26th percentile
Head: 40.5 cm, 46th percentile
Milestones: Avy is a very active baby. She constantly moves her arms and legs and loves to roll around on the floor. She is almost sitting without support and just needs a little push when she starts to lean from side to side. She loves to do sit ups and constantly lifts her hand and legs up like she is doing a crunch. She is able to use our hands or fingers to pull herself to standing and can stand independently while holding onto something for approximately 3-5 seconds. She has begun to lift her knees underneath her as if she is in the crawling position, but hasn't made a move yet.
Sleep: Avy still fluctuates with sleeping through the night. She will sometimes go 8-10 hours without waking up and sometimes only go 4-5 hours before waking up. The doctor told us to let her try and fall back asleep rather then feed her, because she should be able to sleep 8-10 hours now. Avy usually doesn't fuss when she wakes. She usually just plays in her crib. She is also fluctuating on taking naps. Somedays she will take a good morning and afternoon nap and other days she only cat naps for 20 minutes at a time.
Best Moment: She always smiles when she sees us and likes to squeal when daddy tickles her.
Worst Moment: Avy still has the GERD (acid reflux) issue and continues to spit up a lot of her bottles. She is still on medication which seems to help somewhat. We are hoping that we will see some improvement soon!
Health: So far, no issues.
Eating: Avy continues to gain weight and look chubby. She continues to take bottles with rice cereal to help with the acid reflux. We took a step back with baby foods when she got a cold and then we traveled home and thought it would be a hassle to deal with baby foods. The doctor wants us to start back on baby foods as she said if we wait too long they will only want a bottle. I tried avocado and she did not seem to like it. She made some really funny faces and then started acting like she was trying to spit it out by gagging. We are back to trying squash and sweet potatoes now. I will probably try carrots and peas next.
Teeth: Nope, but drooling a lot and consistently putting her hands in her mouth and chewing on toys. The doctor said the teeth are there, they just haven't come through yet.
Extra comments: Greg and I both feel that we are going to see a lot of milestones with Avy this month. She is so close to sitting on her own, standing on her own, clapping, saying mama or dada, crawling, and drinking out of sippy cup. She is playing for longer periods of time on the floor and really enjoys exploring different toys and textures. She continues to enjoy her jumperoo and her feet almost touch the carpet, then we won't have to use a book! She still loves going on hikes and likes to look around and touch the trees. She likes to ride in her stroller for walks or when she goes shopping. She has become quite the people watcher!
